Literary Thesis

The thesis here is actually a combination of the first two sentences. The first sentence gives the overall interpretation of the story's theme (art should be a living, breathing part of the culture it arose from, rather than a frozen timepiece to be observed from a distance), and the second sentence gives the focus (the symbolism of the quilts).
