Use the GIL catalog to find books and other library materials. Try the GIL Skills Tutorial to brush up on searching GIL. The tutorial will help you understand the library call numbers and how books are arranged.
Books in the Clarkston Library are found in the Ready Reference, Reference, and Circulating Collections. Some material may be placed on Reserve by your teacher. Check at the Circulation Desk for reserve items. Books located at other GPC libraries (Decatur, Dunwoody, and Newton) can be requested using Intercampus Loan. Just click on Request at the top of the GIL screen or ask for help.
Use the GIL Universal Catalog to find the books you want in other University System of Georgia (USG) libraries. Once you've found the books, request to have the books delivered through GIL Express. Follow these instructions to help you place your GIL requests.
Videos and DVDs in the Clarkston Library are located in Non-print on the 2nd floor of the library.
Articles from GALILEO Databases
If you're working off campus, you'll need the GALILEO password to access databases. Click here to see how to request the password. To search for articles in GALILEO databases, we recommend that you search in one of the following databases: CINAHL Plus with Full Text, ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition. To access these, go to GALILEO from the library home page and use the Databases A-Z tab.
As an alternative, go to GALILEO, click on the Browse by Subject tab, click the Medicine and Health link, and select the Nursing and Allied Health link. This gives you a list of databases in this category and you can search several at the same time.
The library owns some nursing journals in print and microfilm. These are on the 3rd floor. You can also do a Journal Title search in GIL to find out what journals we subscribe to.
