Lab Safety Guidelines for Students - See General Guidelines and Geology section
Geology Lab Safety Rules  Please follow safety precautions when doing online labs at home or in the library. It is not necessary for you to use acid when doing an online lab. Check with your instructor in iCollege to determine which samples will react.  Do not use hydrochloric acid/muriatic acid unsupervised. Commercial products are highly concentrated unlike dilute solutions used in lab.  Diluting acid can be dangerous.  Never add water to acid.  Protective safety equipment (such as goggles and "rubber" gloves) is required.
