Paleozoic Map assignment - given copies of the paleogeographic maps of North America, with period names removed, and in scrambled order, do the following without consulting your book or notes:
1.  Place the maps into the correct order and identify each period from the events that are shown
2.  Color the maps with a color scheme similar to that in the book and notes
3.  Write a short description or outline of the events depicted on each map (write on the margins or back of the map)
4.  Write an overall summary page on a separate sheet of paper, typed, describing the Paleozoic history of the Appalachian Mountain region, based on what you see on the maps.  Do not consult book or outside resources.  The description should be based on the information presented on the maps.

This is a lab, but please read over the material thoroughly. You do not have to do the lab, but you need to read it. It will help with Chapter 12.


Fernbank Museum Assignment and Field Trip
Go to Fernbank Museum of Natural History.  Do worksheet Fernbank Museum Fieldtrip.
Print it out and take it with you to the museum.
Date of trip to Fernbank Museum of Natural History will be given in class, or go on your own.
This is required, not extra credit.
There is an admission charge of about $13 (check Fernbank website for current fees). Take your student ID for a discount.
Visit the Fernbank web site for hours, directions, and admission fee. http://www.fernbank.edu/museum/homepage.html.
Closes at 5 pm.
Please allow at least 3 hours to go through the exhibit and complete the worksheet. Take a pencil, clipboard and your worksheet.
Do not take small children with you unless you have someone to watch them while you work on your assignment!!
