- Read your web course notes on Volcanoes.
- See Chapter 9 (Volcanoes and Other Igneous Activity)- p. 249-281 in your textbook (11th edition)
(or 9th edition, Chapter 8, p. 224-257) for additional information.
Instructions:
- Musical Plates Exercise 4 -
How do volcanoes fit in the picture?
- Explore the
U.S. Geological Survey Volcanoes! web site. Find at least one exercise that interests you, that you might like to do with your class.
Do that one assignment, and then write a paragraph about whether or not you think it would work with 6th graders.
For example, here is one I recommend. (You may find one you like better.) See Lesson 6, Activity 2,
There's a Volcano in my Backyard!.
Be sure to print out the Activity Sheet with a map of mudflows from Mt. Ranier, Washington. What cities are at risk from a future eruption?
