Getting started:
- Read your web course notes.
- See Appendix A, p. 648 (Metric and English Units Compared) in your textbook.
- See the related web sites for online metric converters
Instructions:
- Do Lab 23, p. 323-333 in your lab manual, questions 1-27, 31-36.
We expect that you should be able to find a meter stick or metric measuring tape.
You can skip #4 which calls for a graduated cylinder, if you cannot get one from your school
or use one in the lab at GPC.
You may skip #5 and 34-36 if you cannot use a scale or balance from your school
or use one in the lab at GPC to measure mass in grams.
(You will want to do these exercises with your classes, so try to get a graduated cylinder and a scale or balance
for your classroom.)
For #6, use your bathroom scale (or best guess at your weight) and convert to kilograms.
You may skip #37-45 if you don't have 15 people to measure height and shoe length, but you will probably want to
do this exercise with your class.

Do the
metric conversion exercises on the web.
