Now what does that mean to you. "Do you love me..... Feed my sheep." For me, it has been a haunting theme in my life.  "How do I feed your sheep? And who are your sheep?"  Christ answers this when he tells us:

"..for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me...as you did it to the least of these my bretheren, you did it unto me."

For me, it was a personal call to follow Christ.   It was tending to His flock as well as I could in every day life. This meant sacrifice and devotion to the greater good. It meant trying, with God's help, to serve others as a teacher, a child, a caretaker and a philosopher, to be there for my friends and students when they needed me and especially to witness in my life the love of God.

This is an awesome and impossible job. But with God's help we can at least strive to "feed His sheep".

My mother lived her life trying to follow the path Christ set for us. I saw her grow in grace year by year. She grew more compassionate and more tolerant as she grew older. She began to pick the "chaff from the wheat".

No she was never perfect but, in the end , I think she was closing in on the prize. She was growing closer and closer to our Lord.

Seeing positive examples in our lives are encouraging.  It means that there is hope for you and me. If we will keep our eyes on Jesus, and follow, we will indeed draw closer. We must remember we are here to "feed His sheep."
