Chapter 2 Exercises and Lab #2 Help!
Ms. Benton-Slaughter (or anyone, really), I need some help with the Chapter 2 Exercises and Lab #2– I looked over the information, and am CLUELESS as what is going on…. as well, the Applett for Lab #2 is not shown when I click on it (at my home computer- I’m using Internet Explorer and have Windows XP-same as the school).

Justin, we haven’t gone over chapter 2 yet, so of course it’s not going to make any sense! We’ll be talking about it in class next week, so don’t worry yet. If you’re still clueless after we cover it in class, then we can talk.
The exercises aren’t due until Wednesday the 23rd anyway.
As for the applet, I saw the screenshot you sent me, and it looks like you may not have Java installed on your computer after all. If you’ll look on the CD at the file named “How Java Works,” it gives you some basic information about how to get Java onto your computer. I’ll also try to write up some more detailed instructions and post them.

Ms. Benson-Slaughter I am also having the same problem with the Applet for Lab #2. I am 99% sure that I have Java on my computer but somehow the applet won’t work.

What exactly happens when you try to run the applet? Without knowing that, I can’t tell you what might be wrong.

I didn’t think you would have respond that quickly to my post. Thanks. I did however get the lab done and on time too. I used the computers on campus.
Based on that, I’m guessing the problem is with the java on my computer, just as you said. I will send you a screen shot of what happens when I try to run the applet. I will also send you another screen shot to show you why I think I do have Java on my computer, in addition to the fact that I remember installing it a while ago.

You need the more recent version of Java installed (1.4 or something along those lines…). That was the problem that I encountered (and four hours later… presto! it was installed.)

Thanks for the help. I’ll give it a try.
