Firefox, Thunderbird, Foxit
There are three great pieces of software out there that are superior to the more popular alternatives.
For surfing the internet, there is nothing better than Firefox. It is much more friendly than Internet Explorer and should quickly become your favorite browser! Check it out by clicking HERE.
Most of you are probably familiar with Outlook and the headaches accompanied with it. I would recommend checking out Thunderbird. Its from Mozilla, the same company that brings you Firefox. You’ll learn to love it just as much as you do Firefox. If you want to check Thunderbird out click HERE.
Last but not least, if you are really sick and tired of waiting twenty minutes for Adobe Acrobate Reader to open because you don’t have a state-of-the-art computer, I would very very very seriously recommend Foxit Reader. It can do everything Adobe Acrobat Reader can do, but it is much less system intensive. I highly recommend checking it out. If you are interested in Foxit (and you should be) click HERE.
All of the above software is free. Yes, legally free. Check it out. There is no malware attached to any of them. They also uninstall very easily if you decide you don’t want to use them. Enjoy!

Great recommendations, David. I wasn’t aware of Foxit Reader, so I appreciate the heads-up on it.
I have used both Firefox and Thunderbird for quite some time without any problems. I love the multiple tabs aspect of Firefox — folks, that’s reason enough right there to switch!

The only thing Firefox needs is mouse gestures a la Opera.
I suggest Wizz RSS (obtainable from the Firefox extensions page) if you don’t have already have an RSS client to keep up to date with the blog.

Just an update!
Firefox Beta 2 is out. For those of you who want the most up to date technologies (with the possibility for a few bugs) can check it out using the following links. Just a heads up, if you use the extensions in Firefox you will not be able to use them in Beta 2 for now.
