  1. How do I know what classes I need to take for a CS degree?

You can pick up a Program of Study sheet from the Access Center on the first floor of the B building, from the Business and Computer Science Department on the second floor of the E building, or from a computer science advisor. This sheet lists all the courses required to receive an A.S. degree in computer science from GPC.

  2. Should I take MATH 1101 or Math 1111 before taking precalculus?

Once you have completed any learning support requirements, you should take MATH 1111, which is College Algebra. This is the course that best prepares you to go into the precalculus and calculus courses.

  3. Is calculus required for a CS major?

Yes, computer science majors are required to take both MATH 2431 (Calculus I) and MATH 2432 (Calculus II). For most students, MATH 2431 will count towards their Area D math requirement, and MATH 2432 will count as one of the courses in Area F.

  4. I'm planning to transfer to Georgia Tech. Should I follow the standard program of study?

Only if you want to obtain an associate degree before transferring. Georgia Tech's transfer requirements are very specifically geared toward their program and change frequently. Your best bet is to check Georgia Tech's College of Computing website for the current list of requirements.
