Order Textbooks Online

 

Students should order their textbooks from the GPC online bookstore.  Ordering books from other distributors will run the risk of problems such as an incorrect purchase, excessive shipping time, etc.

 

2013 Final Exams

Summer: 19 July 2013

All online science students are required to take their PROCTORED final exam, in person on the Clarkston Campus on Friday 19 July 2013.  You will be provided with a specific time and classroom for your final exam prior to the midpoint.  Adjust your schedules accordingly as there are no alternate final exam schedules.  Note: this date is subject to change but it is highly unlikely.

Fall: TBA  2013

Welcome

Hello and welcome.  I am Deniz Ballero, Assistant Professor of Geology, Biology and Environmental Science here at Georgia Perimeter College.  I hold a B.S. and M.S. degree in Biology from Montclair State University as well as an additional M.S. in geology.  Currently, I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Geology at The University of Georgia.  My research centers on a group of organisms called Foraminifera-- which play an extremely large role in oil exploration, rock dating and stratigraphy.  They have been part of the fossil record since the fossil record exists and are alive today!  I sample live Foraminifera from the marshes and mudflats along the Georgia coastlines and examine their cellular fine structure using a tool called an electron microscope.  In addition, I am looking at the evolutionary history of a small group called allogromiids-- I am using three genetic markers (SSU, actin, tubulin) to see if using *many* genes simultaneously will help resolve the relationships among my group.

All of my online students MUST complete the Online Student Form prior to entering the online course.  Syllabi for all courses are located under the 'Courses' tab at the top of this page.

The link for the GPC online bookstore is provided.  It is recommended that all online students purchase their textbooks from the online bookstore for several reasons.  Many times the curriculum committees establish a 'course pack' specifically for GPC students.  The course packs will have a specific ISBN number that the publisher (or any other distributor) will not have.  More importantly, ordering books from outside distributors runs the risk of an incorrect purchase, your book may be damaged, written in or have pages missing, excessive delayed shipping and no refunds/exchanges.  Students will not be allowed to make up missed work because they do not have their correct and complete textbook because they were ordered from an outside vendor.  NOTE: ALL LABORATORY MANUALS MUST BE PURCHASED NEW (electronic versions are accepted), NO USED LAB MANUALS, NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

All  Spring 2013 online science final exams will be given IN PERSON, on the Clarkston campus of Georgia Perimeter College. All  Summer 2013 online science final exams will be given IN PERSON, on the Clarkston campus of Georgia Perimeter College.  The online science final examinations have been scheduled for Friday 19 JULY 2013.You will be provided with a specific time, date and prior to the midpoint of the semester.  This in person, proctored final exam is MANDATORY-- missing this final exam will result in a grade of F in the course.
