Expected Educational Results: Every course at Georgia Perimeter College has expected educational results. In other words, we expect each student to learn certain things by passing a particular course. Such things are the expected educational results. The following are the expected educational results for this section of ENSL 0091. By the end of the term, each student who completes this section of ENSL 0091 successfully is able to:

Write multi-paragraph academic essays containing an introduction with thesis, body paragraphs with adequate supporting details, transitions, and a conclusion.

  •  

Write clear English text with relatively few errors in grammar and mechanics. This means that they will demonstrate proficiency in these core grammar areas:

  •  

Sentence structure: Managing sentence elements, clauses, word form.

  •  

Verbs: Using correct verb forms and appropriate tenses.

  •  

Nouns: Managing number and article/determiner use.

  •  

They will demonstrate some competency in managing such advanced grammar areas as the following:

  •  

Passive verbs.

  •  

Modal meaning and use.

  •  

Conditional structures.

  •  

Structures of comparison.

  •  

Employ proof reading and editing strategies that help them recognize and correct their own most troublesome grammar errors.
