Donna Saye encouraged everyone to attend the next conference that AMATYC has in Orlando. Everyone was also encouraged to renew or join.
Gloria gave a summary of activities for 2003. We had 133 members, up 4 from the previous year. The list serve is accurate and tied to voting. Two newsletters were sent out as hard copies. One included a handout about AMATYC. Calandra helped with the newsletter and she keeps the website. Thank you to Calandra.
New Business
1. GCTM Representative The past president is designated in the bylaws as the GCTM Representative. Gloria felt this was a lot to ask after several years of commitment. A change in the bylaws was proposed to delete the old bylaw and make it say:
A liaison will be appointed each year by the GMATYC president to be the liaison and attend all GCTM Executive Board meetings and write a report to the GMATYC president about each meeting. The report will be published in the GMATYC Newsletter.
After some discussion, the motion to put this before the membership carried. This will be voted on by the entire membership by email.
2. GMATYC Service There was discussion of how to get more volunteers. All the new officers were from GPC. There was an email asking for volunteers to run for office and when none came forward, GPC faculty were recruited. It was suggested that liaisons at each school be used to get information out and the chair of membership share liaisons with chair of nominating committee to give more variety in the next election.
Gloria thanked the board for all the hard work the last two years.
3. Donna Saye announced the winner of the GMATYC Teaching Excellence Award. The committee of Donna Saye, Bill Bompart, and Kim Bennett used a form similar to AMATYC form that gave a point system. The first award went to Gina Reed of Gainesville College. She gets membership in GMATYC and AMATYC and a plaque.
The meeting adjourned at 6:19 pm.
Diane Wilson, Secretary
